Yeast Donut #2
 

In a fairly large bowl place,
1/2 Cup warm water
1 egg
2 Tbsp. Milk pwd.
1/4 Cup sugar
2 rounded Tbsp. Shorting
1/2 tsp.salt.
1 1/4 cups flour (any)

stir a few strokes and add
1 Tbsp. Dry yeast (or 1 packet)
make into a dough with a spoon and then dump onto the table and knead just like a bread dough, about 30 good strokes-roll it out ,both ends to center ,press down hard ,do it over and over again.

Let the dough rest a while then rope out cut into equal chunks ,roll each chunk out long and make round and press the end down hard forming a donut shape. Let them rest on a floured board about an hour covered with plastic wrap and fry in a French fryer or prying pan being careful it does not get to hot, they should fry about 30 seconds on each side when this time is right lower the temp on your frying pan. Yeald 12 med .

After frying sprinkle with powdered sugar or dip in a simple sugar frosting.*

*Simple sugar frosting to 1 Lb. Pwd. Sugar add vanilla to taste and a few drops on water a bit at a time stirring as you go until a runny frosting is made dip donuts hot let dry on a rack a second or two.
